Kazakhstan and Nigeria Sign Investment Agreement on Satellite Technologies
On July 29, 2025, JSC "National Company "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary" and Nigerian company Suburban Broadband Limited signed an investment agreement for the development and deployment of a high-resolution Earth remote sensing space system. The agreement provides for the export of the Kazakhstani satellite system and the establishment of a comprehensive partnership involving digital solutions, specialist training, and technical support.
The signing ceremony took place in the State of Qatar with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the support of the Nigeria–Kazakhstan Business Council.
The agreement aims to develop a high-tech satellite platform capable of delivering real-time, high-precision Earth observation. The system is expected to be effectively used for natural resource monitoring, environmental protection, agriculture, urban development, and national security.
The foundations of bilateral cooperation were established during the first official visit of the Kazakh delegation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria in February 2025, which included preliminary discussions on potential collaboration in the space sector. This engagement laid the groundwork for subsequent developments, including the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between JSC "National Company Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary" and Suburban Broadband Limited during the Kazakhstan–Nigeria Business Conference in Abuja.
The agreement with the Federal Republic of Nigeria marks Kazakhstan’s third international investment initiative in the field of satellite technologies. Earlier, Kazakhstan concluded export agreements with Mongolia and the Republic of the Congo. Nigeria’s accession to the international satellite group spearheaded by Kazakhstan strengthens the foundation for expanded cooperation in areas such as data exchange, geospatial analytics, and the development of cutting-edge solutions in the space industry.
